Couples Counselling

Support for communication, connection and understanding

Couples counselling offers a supportive space to explore relationship difficulties together. Whether you’re feeling disconnected, stuck in repeating patterns, or struggling to communicate, couples counselling can help you slow things down and understand what’s happening between you.

People come to couples counselling for many reasons. You don’t need to be in crisis, and you don’t need to know exactly what’s “wrong” to begin.

Who Couples Counselling Is For

Couples counselling may be helpful if you’re experiencing:

  • ongoing conflict or frequent arguments

  • difficulties with communication or feeling unheard

  • emotional distance or loss of connection

  • trust issues

  • changes following pregnancy, birth or parenthood

  • the impact of trauma, stress or life transitions on your relationship

Couples counselling is inclusive of all relationship structures and identities.

How I Work With Couples

I’m a qualified counsellor and registered midwife, offering trauma-informed couples counselling. My approach is collaborative and non-blaming, with a focus on helping you understand patterns rather than assigning fault.

Sessions provide space for both partners to:

  • feel heard and understood

  • explore how communication breaks down

  • notice recurring dynamics or triggers

  • develop safer ways of relating to one another

Where relevant, we may also explore how experiences such as pregnancy, birth, loss, trauma or major life changes are affecting your relationship.

What to Expect From Sessions

Couples counselling sessions are structured but flexible. I work at a pace that feels manageable for both of you, and we will regularly check in about how the sessions are feeling.

Counselling is not about taking sides or telling you what to do. It’s about supporting understanding, emotional safety and choice.

Session Length & Fees

Couples counselling sessions are offered as:

  • 60-minute sessions — £60

  • 90-minute sessions — £90

Sessions are available online via Zoom or in person (where applicable).

Free Initial Conversation

I offer a free, 30-minute, no-obligation initial session via Zoom.
This gives you space to talk about what’s been happening, ask questions, and decide whether couples counselling feels right for you.

Booking Couples Counselling

If you’d like to arrange couples counselling or book a free initial conversation, you’re welcome to get in touch via the contact page.

If you’re unsure whether couples counselling or individual support would be most helpful, we can explore this together.

Relationships can be hard - you don’t have to navigate this on your own.

TESTIMONIAL

”Both of us were apprehensive about couples counselling, but Sam made us feel really welcome and helped us to understand the way each other thinks. We have really grown as a couple and as individuals and this is due to the amazing work that Sam does. We couldn't recommend her enough. Thank you!”
